 Vonage sucks

posted by on December 05, 2009 17:07 as General

For the past 2 years + i have had two phone numbers. My vonage number for long distance, and my verizon landline phone. I also have verizon DSL. I saw some package deals verizon was running and saw it would just be cheaper and simpler to go with verizon. So i did.

so then i called vonage to ask them to cancel my service. I told them verizon would be starting on the 10th, so can i please cancel my account the 10th? They said no, they only accept realtime cancellations. So i said, ok fine, today then. I then asked what would be refunded out of the 33.02 i just paid 3 days previous. They said nothing. They do not allow pro-rated refunds of unused service. So i asked for a manager. Same answer, non-yielding. About an hour into this, i just said forget it (as im sure they liked) and called verizon.

I told verizon the situation and asked if i could delay the service start date until the 31st of december. They said sure! took about 3 minutes total.

So im sure vonage are banking on me not calling them back to cancel on the 31st but its on my whiteboard, on my outlook reminders (two of em to be sure) and im planning on putting it elsewhere. I am NOT going to forget.

simply put, vonage is just evil. They do all they can to avoid you disconnecting their service. I would have loved to just say screw it, disconnect me now! But i can't bear to think of wasting 30 bucks ;)

also, my dad wanted me to repost his original song. get it here:

The Pina Colada song (Ed Merrill)

maybe i should go to vonage myself and give them a piece of my mind?
