You reside within me a shadow

fading like a day worth forgetting

yet lessons worth remembering

a paradoxial shaded window

You slide around inside my innards

poking your head to remind me

but every day makes clearer who you really are

my eyes rest from former squinting

I tried to erase you, to vomit you out

indeed, a technicolor yawn suffixing my thoughts

but now I retain the memory I once knew

to learn for the rest of my time -

you say you havent changed

my belief is currently the same

you were someone all along

chasing the summer rain

chasing the endless pain

never enough attention

never enough to claim

crying on the shoulders of others

they eat your tears and feed you lies

just enough to supplant your guilt

enough to justify your fickle lust

not for the carnal, but the emotional

the drooling for the game

your defeated flight

I have tasted this light

naught at azimuth, or zenith

but the everlasting white

or reality's harsh but pleasing needle

I have seen through this vein

But lest i forget, I remember this pain.

there is no excuse.
